The Birth-View Museum
Built some 32 years ago, located south-west of Independence in a small bungalow not far from the Interstate, the Birth-View Museum is precisely what it says it is. It contains dozens of original pieces of art depicting the moment of birth from the perspective of the newborn, ranging from views of sterile hospital wards, dreamlike waterbirths and dark, dank alleyways.
It is rumoured that there is a private selection of paintings done from the perspective of stillbirths, but no one has ever claimed to actually see any of these.
The museum is curated by Mrs Maybell, who lives in the museum and rarely comes in to town.
