Johnson Memorial Trailerpark

Located to the South of Independence, about ten minutes’ drive away, Johnson Memorial Trailerpark represents the southern-most extreme of the Independence High School catchment area and is home to some of the poorest residents of the county. Generally considered to be hicks and rednecks, the residents of this trailerpark can expect to be treated somewhat differently than the rest of the town.

There is some debate over the Johnson being honoured in the naming of the trailer park, and county records unaccountably suffered a degree of water-damage in the early 80s destoying the original records. The debate usually comes down to either William Samuel Johnson a Founding Father, or Taylor Smith Johnson an early missionary who supposedly died of dystentry whilst trying to convert the local Indian tribes in the early 18th Century. His are the only extant records of the settlement of Dunwich from a resident in the area before it was destroyed.
